‘The Hood’s’ 3E SUBMARINE From the 1965 TV series ‘Thunderbirds’ created by Gerry Anderson

The Hood was a recurring threat to international rescue, but surprisingly only features in 6 episodes: ‘Trapped in the Sky’, ‘The Mighty Atom’, ‘Martian Invasion’, ‘Cry Wolf’, ‘Edge of Impact’ and ‘Desperate Intruder’.

In ‘Desperate Intruder’ the Hood spies on the lake Anasta Expedition from the lake itself. This painting shows the submarine next to the flooded temple.

In ‘The Man from MI5’ Brains is testing a model sub in the family pool, and the film-makers use the same model – albeit cleaned up to look like a toy. Possibly suggesting that this sub is a commercially available submarine that ‘the Hood’ has purchased and hat a toy manufacturer has made a toy of.
