Doctor Who first aired in November 1963 and has been hugely successful. The lead actor has been changed over a dozen times over 60 years. But more famous than The Doctor himself are his arch enemy are the Daleks. Instantly recognizable, with their signiature scratchy electronic voices repeating their constant desire to exterminate all other life forms! They are iconic. Anyone who grew up in the 1960s or 1970s will inevitably refer to any cylindrical or conical object as a ‘dalek’.
The distinctive ‘pepper-pot’ design came curtesy of BBC designer Ray Cusick and it is an icon. a classic. The Daleks are ridiculed for their ‘sink plungers’ and inability to climb stairs. But there is no denying their unnerving menace as they glide around. With no faces or human characteristics they are totally emotionless.
The Daleks have been seen in several variants over the years. This illustration shows an imagined silver dalek with blue spheres. The model kit would come with multiple paint schemes and some alternate parts to convey the different variants. The Dalek is shown in this illustration is wreaking havoc on an alien planet.
A 1/12th scale kit would stand approximately 6” tall. The swirly and silver-grey plastic would in order here.
