SUNPROBE- from the 1965 TV Series ‘THUNDERBIRDS’ created by GERRY ANDERSON

The giant SUNPROBE rocket is featured in one of the very best episodes of the classic series. After completing its daring mission, the rocket becomes locked onto a collision course with the sun and International Rescue are called in to help.

The two stage rocket is featured throughout the story, from a detailed launch sequence and its perilous journey through space.

The Sunprobe launch is seen again in the episode ‘The Perils of Penelope’, where it si revealed that the spaceship uses revolutionary fuel created from sea-water. Although it is unclear idf it his actual spaceship, or the ‘sunprobe’ programme.

Its fun to imagine Airfix following suit and having this kit and the UFO Mobile Transporter kit share parts. More on this in the video ‘What If Fantasy Model Kit boxes #17’.
