VICKERS VIKING ‘AMPHIB’ from The People that Time Forgot

The People That Time Forgot produced by Milton Subostsky and John Dark. Directed by Kevin Connor (1977)

The People that Time Forgot is a sequel to the low budget adventure romp ‘The Land That Time Forgot’ where a handful of people are shipwrecked on a remote, mythical island called Caprona - inhabited by Dinosaurs. This film follows a team in search of Bowen Tyler (Doug McClure’s character from the previous film). Patrick Wayne, Sarah Douglas, Thorley Walters and Shane Rimmer (the voice of Scott Tracy in ‘Thunderbirds’) travel in a Vickers Viking Flying Boat - aka ‘the Amphib travel to Caprona and land after an unremarkable encounter with a Pteradactyl.

In the film the explorers escape in the Amphib, amid exploding volcanoes and the like. Gathering up some survivors the plane lifts off with about 7 or 8 people stuffed into every oraface on the plane! A kit would have to include all of these characters… although some may need to be like the guys you’d get to put in front gun turrets on a Lancaster or a Liberator with no legs!

The plane is realised via miniatures and a full size prop - or possibly an actual Vickers Viking - 34 feet in length, so a 1/72nd scale kit would be a nice 6” in length. The aircraft spends alot of screen time stranded on the island while it ie being repaired and this would make for a nice diorama.
