CARRIER AIRCRAFT and FIGHTER From the 1965 TV series ‘Thunderbirds’ created by Gerry Anderson

This unique aircraft combination is featured in a memorable scene from the episode ‘The Duchess Assignment’. Jeff Tracy attends an air display with Lady Penelope. The US Air Force plane is no danger, this sequence is a glimpse into Jeff Tracy’s private - off-duty - life. The larger flat ‘carrier craft’ is joined in mid-air with a fighter plane that lands on the flat fuselage. The pilot of the larger craft then ejects and the smaller plane, and the pilot of the fighter plane - now attached - guides the ‘combo’ aircraft into land like a conventional plane on a runway.
