LUNAR CARRIER and LUNAR MODULE from the 1970 Television Series created by Gerry Anderson

This is a painting of the SHADO Lunar Carrier and Lunar Module from the 1970 Gerry Anderson TV Series 'UFO'. These futuristic aircraft belonged to SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organisation).

The VTOL Lunar Carrier would ascend to a stratospheric altitude where the Lunar Module would un-dock and travel to SHADO's Moonbase on the moon.

The aircraft were designed by the series' Visual Effects Supervisor Derek Meddings.

This painting was inspired by a piece of concept art - by Derek Meddings - of this same mid-air rendezvous.
