EDDIE HOUSEMAN’S EXPLOSIVES TRACTOR from ‘Thunderbirds’ (1965) produced by Gerry Anderson

From the 1965 TV Series Thunderbirds. The episode ‘End of the Road’ is a bona fide classic, checking all the boxes of what people tuned in to see. Evidently one of Gerry Anderson’s favourites too.

The Explosives Tractor from the Gray and Houseman Construction company is seen here balancing precariously on a fragile ledge. A classic image from the show, with standout visual effects by Derek Meddings and team. Just superb.

This painting has been updated (December 2025) as I was never really happy with how the cliff looked in the original version. it was very soft and lacked any sort of jeopardy. I am much happier with this version, For now at least.

This model included the caterpillar tracks from a large promotional toy/model that was available at the time: the Vickers Vigor Tractor. This episode also featured the giant ‘Road Laying machine’.
