THUNDERBIRD 2 on a misty morning from ‘Thunderbirds’ (1965) created by Gerry Anderson

I wanted to do a painting of Thunderbird 2 on a misty day, barely visible through the fog. This is not inspired by a particular episode. I imagine the rescue operation is underway on the other side of the hill. Probably a rescue involving people trapped underground in a cave in. I made this deliberately desaturated and really lacking any detail. It is looser even than usual. But I like how this came out.

Thunderbird 2 is an iconic design. It looks powerful and sleek and beautiful in the air. There is the unique functionality of the detachable Pod - the centre of the fuselage which is used for carrying the ‘heavy rescue’ equipment, typically a vehicle designed for a specific purpose. There are 6 pods which each contain different machinery for different situations.
